Connection to Health Careers, offered by the Healthcare Information Corporation, was conceived as a job listing and resume posting site focusing on health care professions. The intent was to build a profitable service in this niche market.

The challenges for building this site included: ease of navigation for job seekers and employers; simple maintenance for staff to update job and resume postings; and to keep costs of the site as low as possible. Complicating this was that the use of a database for housing the content was not an option: the hosting charges from the company's service provider for adding database capabilities to the internet site was prohibitive given the budget for the project.

The solution developed employed Active Server Pages created as templates for the listing and detail pages with the content stored in text files. Content is read in based on the user's selection, and non-technical staff can create or update existing text files, following a preset format for the content to work with the code written.

The interface splits the navigation between the choices for job seekers and the choices for employers. Steps for searching for jobs or posting information are presented in a simple to follow layout.

The site is currently being maintained by Connection staff. Changes to the design may have been made since the site was launched.
